Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and how to control it. We don't sell your information and we never show anyone your exact location.
Effective October 1, 2026 Last updated October 2, 2026
The short version
- We collect what we need to run Radar: your phone number, first name, birthday, photos, interests, the people you connect with, your messages, and your location while you use location features.
- Other members see your first name, age, photos, bio and interests, and, while you're on Radar, a soft circle on the map placed a random distance from you and a rough distance band. Never your exact location, neighborhood, phone number, email, last name or birthday.
- We round and shift your Radar location before storing it and delete it soon after your session ends.
- We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising. There are no ad trackers or analytics SDKs in the app.
- Selfie verification is optional. If you verify, we keep a face template only while your account is active and never sell or share it. See Verification, photo checks and biometrics.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time.
Who we are and what this covers
Radar is operated by Radar Social LLC ("we", "us"), 2406 E State Road 60 Unit 1723, Valrico, FL 33595. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information through the Radar iPhone app, our websites, our partner and affiliate portals, and any other service that links to this policy (the "Service"). It is part of our Terms of Service. Words like "member" and "Service" mean the same as in the Terms.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account and sign-in: your mobile phone number; if you use Sign in with Apple, Apple's identifier for you and, the first time only, the name and email address you choose to share (which may be a private relay address).
- Profile: first name, date of birth, up to six photos, a short bio, the interests you pick, how you like to be approached, and your privacy and notification settings.
- Selfie verification (optional): a video selfie, the selfie image and a face template, with your consent. See Verification, photo checks and biometrics.
- Activity: Radar sessions and the status you add to them, hellos and the short notes you send with them, plans you create or join, join request notes, invites, events you mark as interested or going, people you hide or block, and connections.
- Instagram and Snapchat usernames (optional): if you add them. They're private: they never appear on your profile, on Radar or in plans. A member sees one only when you tap Share in a chat with them.
- Messages: the content of chats and the time they were sent, edited or removed.
- Reports and support: what you tell us when you report someone or contact us, and the content you report.
- City interest: if your city isn't open yet, the phone number or email you leave so we can tell you when it opens, and the city name.
- Waitlist: your email and the city or town you pick on our website. If you tap “Use my location”, your approximate coordinates are used once to find the nearest town and are not stored.
- Invite codes: a referral or affiliate code you enter at sign-up.
- Partners and affiliates: business name, contact name, email, password, social handles and the content you post through the portal. If you apply on our website, the business and contact details you enter in the application.
Information collected automatically
- Location: your device's location when you allow it. See Location data.
- Device: an app-specific device identifier, your push notification token, device model, iOS version, app version, language and time zone.
- Usage: when you were last active, notifications delivered and opened, and actions you take in the app.
- Website: IP address, browser type, pages requested and times, and the cookies described in Cookies on our website.
We don't use advertising identifiers, cross-app tracking, analytics or advertising SDKs, or device fingerprinting.
Information from others
- Apple: sign-in identifier and the name and email you allow, and push notification tokens. If you buy Radar Premium, Apple sends us a signed record of the purchase: the transaction ID, which plan you bought, the environment, when it renews or ends, whether auto-renew is on, and refunds or revocations. We never receive your payment card or billing details.
- Our SMS provider: whether a verification code was delivered and confirmed.
- Amazon Web Services: the results of photo checks and, if you verify, of the selfie check and face comparisons.
- Other members: reports about you, plans or chats you're part of, and invites or hellos sent to you.
- Partners and public sources: event, venue and deal information. This is about businesses, not about you.
- Safety sources: if we screen accounts, information from public records such as sex offender registries.
What stays on your phone
If you choose friends from your contacts to invite, the app reads your contacts on your phone only, to let you pick names and open a text message that you send yourself. We don't upload or store your contacts. Live Activities on your Lock Screen are created on your phone. Photos are converted on your phone before upload, which removes embedded location data.
Location data
Location is central to Radar, so here is exactly what happens:
- Checking your city. When you sign up, the app sends your current coordinates so we can tell whether your city is open. We use them right away to find your city and neighborhood and don't store them; for up to 30 minutes we keep only that city and neighborhood to finish sign-up. Your phone also asks Apple to turn the coordinates into a city name.
- Placing you in a city. We use your location to set your city and neighborhood. We save the city and neighborhood, not the coordinates. If your city isn't open, we save a point rounded to about 1 km (0.6 miles) to count interest by area.
- Radar. Only when you go live on Radar. While you're on Radar, the app sends your location about once a minute, including in the background, and iOS shows that the app is using your location. We never store your exact location: before saving, we round it to a grid of about 150 m (500 ft) and move it by a random offset of about 270 to 400 m (900 to 1,300 ft) The offset stays the same whenever you go live from the same area in the same week, so repeated sessions can't be averaged out, and it changes every week. Other members on Radar see you on a map as a circle about half a mile (800 m to 1 km) across around that shifted point, plus a distance band between shifted points such as "nearby" or "under 0.6 mi". You're always somewhere inside the circle but never at its centre, and the map can't zoom in to street level. We never show your exact location or coordinates to anyone. Radar has a fixed range and limits how often you can go live, refresh your location or check who's nearby, so nobody can narrow down where you are by moving around. Your Radar session ends when your time is up, and we erase the stored point within 24 hours after the session ends.
- Plans. The exact meeting place of a plan is shown only to members the host accepts. Everyone else sees the neighborhood and an approximate area placed at a random offset from the real spot, not the place name.
- Distances to events and deals. Used to sort results and not stored.
Location you send us is "precise geolocation", which several state laws treat as sensitive. We use it only to provide the features you ask for, and we don't sell it, share it for advertising, or build a history of where you've been. You can turn location off in iOS Settings at any time; Radar and some sign-up steps won't work without it.
Verification, photo checks and biometrics
Phone verification. Every member confirms a US mobile number. Our SMS provider sends the code and tells us whether it matched. We don't store the code.
Photo checks. Photos you upload are checked by automated tools from Amazon Web Services (Rekognition) for nudity, violence and other prohibited content, and to check that your first photo shows a face. These checks look for categories of content and don't identify you.
Selfie verification (optional). You can verify that you're a real person who matches your photos. Verifying is optional; going live on Radar, posting or joining plans and sending messages may require it. Before the check, the app shows what we collect and why on its own screen and asks for your consent, which you give by tapping "I agree and consent". We keep a record of that consent (the version of the text, when you agreed and the app version). If you don't agree, nothing is captured. This is how it works:
- What we collect: a short video selfie taken in the app, the still image of your face that the check returns (the "selfie image"), and a face template (face geometry) made from your selfie, which we compare with your profile photos.
- Why: to confirm you're a live person, that you match your main profile photo, and that photos you add later are you. We use it for nothing else: never for advertising, never to identify you anywhere else, and never to match you against other people.
- Who processes it: Amazon Web Services runs the check as our service provider, only on our instructions and under a contract that limits its use. We've asked AWS not to use our content to improve its services.
- How the result is decided: a clear match verifies you. A close but uncertain match is looked at by a trained member of our team, who sees only the selfie image and your first photo. Otherwise you can try again; after 3 tries in a day, you can try again 24 hours later.
- New photos: once you're verified, each photo you add that shows exactly one face is compared with your face template. A photo that doesn't match goes to our team for review. Photos with more than one face are never compared, so nobody else in your photos is scanned. If your main photo changes to one that doesn't match, you'll be asked to verify again.
- What we keep: the result, the scores, when it happened and the provider's reference number. The video is never saved by us. The selfie image is kept only when our team needs to look at it, encrypted and downsized, and is deleted within 30 days (sooner once they decide). Your face template is held by AWS for us while your account is active.
- When we delete it: your face template is deleted as soon as you ask to delete your account, remove your verification, or verify again (the old one is replaced), and after 12 months without signing in or using the app. A failed check never creates a face template. See our Biometric data retention and destruction policy for the full schedule.
- Your choice: you can remove your verification at any time in the app (tap your photo, then Remove my verification). That deletes your face template and removes your badge.
- Never sold or shared: we never sell, lease, trade or otherwise profit from biometric data, and we don't disclose it to anyone except AWS as our service provider, or when the law or a valid court order requires.
This section, together with the Biometric data retention and destruction policy, is our written policy under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, the Texas Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act, Washington's biometric identifier law (RCW 19.375), Colorado's biometric rules and similar laws. Washington residents can also read our Consumer health data privacy policy.
No ID document checks. We don't ask for identity documents, and we never collect images or numbers from them.
How we use information
- To provide the Service: create and secure your account, show your profile, run Radar, hellos, plans, chats, Explore and notifications, and apply your settings.
- To keep people safe: verify phone numbers, enforce the 18+ rule, check photos and messages for prohibited content, review reports, investigate and prevent fraud, abuse, spam and ban evasion, and enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines.
- To personalize: rank events, plans and deals by your interests, neighborhood and distance.
- To communicate: send verification codes, service and safety notices, push notifications you've allowed, and, if you asked, news about Radar opening in your city.
- To improve and plan: understand how features are used in aggregate, fix bugs and decide which cities to open next.
- To give credit: attribute sign-ups to the friend, affiliate or partner whose code or link you used, and show them aggregate counts. No one is paid for this today.
- To meet legal duties: comply with laws, respond to lawful requests, and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We don't use your information for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects without human review. Automated tools may hide content or flag an account, and our team decides on suspensions and bans.
What other members see
- Your profile: first name, age (you can hide it), photos, bio, interests, how you like to be approached, and your verification badge.
- While you're on Radar: that you're on Radar, your status, a circle on the map around a shifted point, and a distance band. Only members who are on Radar in the same city, within each other's range and age filters, and who haven't blocked or hidden each other, see you.
- Plans and events: plans you host or join and their members, and whether you're interested in an event (you can hide yourself from event lists).
- Messages: everything you send in a chat is seen by its members.
Never shown: your exact location, phone number, email, last name, date of birth, or who you blocked or reported. Your Instagram and Snapchat usernames are shown only when you tap Share in a chat, and only to that chat. Anything you share with other members can be copied or screenshotted by them, so share carefully.
How we share information
We share personal information only in these ways:
- With other members, as described above.
- With service providers who process it for us under contracts that limit their use to providing services to us:
- Hosting, storage and backups: our own servers and cloud providers (for example Amazon Web Services).
- SMS delivery and phone verification (Twilio).
- Apple, for Sign in with Apple, push notifications, on-device place names, and Apple Maps (MapKit) to show maps; map requests can include an approximate location.
- Amazon Web Services (Rekognition), for photo moderation, selfie liveness checks and face matching. Biometric data goes only to AWS, as our service provider.
- Email delivery, customer support and security tools.
- With partners and affiliates, only in aggregate, such as how many people viewed or were interested in an event, or how many people signed up with a code. They don't get your name or profile unless you choose to contact them or redeem an offer that requires it, in which case we'll tell you first.
- For safety and the law: with law enforcement, government authorities, courts or others when we believe in good faith it's needed to comply with law or legal process, to protect anyone's safety or prevent harm, to investigate fraud, security or abuse, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and property of Radar Social LLC, our members or the public. Where the law allows and it's safe to do so, we may tell you about a request for your information.
- In a business transfer: as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of our business or assets, subject to this policy.
- With your consent or at your direction.
- De-identified or aggregate information that can't reasonably identify you, for any lawful purpose. We won't try to re-identify it.
Mobile phone numbers and SMS consent are never shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising, and we haven't done so in the past 12 months. We have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing information about anyone under 16.
Links to other services. When you tap Get tickets, Open in Instagram or Snapchat, or Directions, you leave Radar for that service (for example Ticketmaster, Instagram, Snapchat or Apple Maps), which has its own privacy policy. We don't share your profile with them.
Messages and safety tools
Chats are stored on our servers so you can read them on any device. They're encrypted in transit but not end-to-end encrypted. Automated filters check messages as they're sent, for example to block slurs and to warn when someone shares a phone number or payment handle early in a chat. Our team may read messages when they're reported, when filters flag them, to investigate safety, fraud or abuse, or when the law requires. We don't use message content for advertising.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, unless the law requires or allows longer. Our current schedule:
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Account, profile, photos, interests, settings | While your account is open, then deleted or de-identified within 30 days of account deletion. We keep a de-identified account record with no name, contact details or photos so messages, reports and audit history still have an author |
| City and neighborhood found at sign-up (coordinates aren't stored) | Up to 30 minutes |
| Radar location (already rounded and shifted) | Erased within 24 hours after the session ends; we keep only session times and aggregate counts |
| Messages | While the conversation exists. When you delete your account, messages you sent stay visible to the people you sent them to, shown as from “Deleted account”, with your name and photo removed. They can't reply |
| Phone number, email and Apple ID of a deleted account | Kept in encrypted form for up to 1 year after the account is de-identified, for safety, fraud prevention and legal reasons; longer only under a legal hold; then deleted |
| Messages you remove | The text is erased within 30 days of removal; the chat shows that a message was removed |
| Instagram and Snapchat usernames | Until you remove them or delete your account. A username you shared in a chat is erased when you remove the message or delete your account |
| Hellos, connections, plans | While your account is open; plan details as long as the plan is visible to its members |
| Reports, content snapshots and moderation records | 1 year after the report is resolved, or as long as a related suspension or ban lasts, whichever is longer |
| Ban records (phone number and Apple identifier, both in hashed form) | As long as needed to enforce the ban |
| Radar Premium purchase records (transaction ID, plan, dates, status) and Boost history | While your account is open; deleted when the account is de-identified. Boost history is deleted 30 days after each Boost ends |
| Push delivery logs | 90 days |
| City interest phone or email | Until we tell you your city is open, you opt out, or 24 months, whichever is first |
| Waitlist entries (email and city) | Until we email you that your city is open, or 24 months, whichever comes first |
| Partner applications (business and contact details) | Until the application is approved or rejected, then for as long as the partner account is open |
| Website session data | 2 hours of inactivity |
| Staff and moderation activity logs | Up to 3 years |
| Backups | Encrypted and rotated; deleted data can remain in a backup for up to 24 months until it's overwritten. We don't use backups to restore deleted accounts |
| Selfie video | Never stored by us |
| Selfie image (kept only for a review by our team) | Deleted within 30 days of the check, sooner once reviewed, and right away if you ask to delete your account |
| Face template | While your account is active. Deleted as soon as you ask to delete your account, remove your verification or verify again, and after 12 months without signing in or using the app |
| Verification result and consent record (no biometric data) | While your account is open, then deleted when the account is de-identified |
We may keep information longer when it's subject to a legal hold, needed for an investigation, or needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app at any time: tap your photo in the top corner to open Me, then tap Delete my account. You don't need to contact us. When you do:
- You're signed out on every device, any Radar session ends, push notifications stop, and your profile disappears from other members right away.
- If you used Sign in with Apple, we revoke Radar's access to your Apple ID.
- Your face template and any selfie image are deleted right away. If you come back, you can verify again.
- Within 30 days we delete or de-identify your personal information. If you sign back in during those 30 days, we may restore your account instead.
We keep some information after deletion: records needed to keep banned or suspended people off the Service (your phone number and Apple identifier, both in hashed form), reports you made or that were made about you and the related moderation records (for the periods above), a de-identified account record and the messages you sent (shown as from “Deleted account”), your phone number, email and Apple ID in encrypted form for up to 1 year for safety, fraud prevention and legal reasons (longer only under a legal hold), information we must keep by law or for a legal hold, and data in backups until they're overwritten. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an Apple subscription.
Your choices
- Profile and privacy: edit your profile and hide your age or presence on event lists in Settings.
- Location: choose when to go live on Radar; change or turn off location access in iOS Settings.
- Push notifications: pick which notifications you get in Settings, or turn them off in iOS Settings.
- Texts: reply STOP to any text from us. Reply HELP for help.
- Emails: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. We'll still send you account and safety messages.
- Contacts and photos: you control access in iOS Settings.
- Block and hide: block anyone, or hide someone on Radar, at any time.
- Selfie verification: it's optional, and you can remove it any time in the app, which deletes your face template.
Security
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, encrypted storage of sign-in tokens on your iPhone's Keychain, encryption of sensitive fields and backups, encryption of any selfie image we hold for review, access limited to staff who need it with two-factor authentication, and logging of staff access. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee the security of information. If we learn of a breach that affects your personal information, we'll notify you and regulators as the law requires.
Adults only
Radar is only for people 18 and older. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up and block anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, including children under 13. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we close it and delete their information, keeping only what we need to stop them from signing up again. If you believe a minor is using Radar, report it in the app or email support@onradarsocial.com.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we have about you, and get a copy in a portable format.

- Appeal our decision on your request.
- Not be discriminated against for using these rights.

Other state notices
Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and other states with consumer privacy laws have the rights described in Your privacy rights, as provided by their laws. In particular:
- We process precise geolocation, which these laws treat as sensitive data, only after you allow location access on your iPhone and only to provide the features you use. You can withdraw that permission at any time in iOS Settings.
- We don't sell personal data, use it for targeted advertising, or profile you in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
- You can appeal a decision on your request as described above. If we deny your appeal, you can contact your state attorney general, for example in Virginia at oag.state.va.us, in Colorado at coag.gov, or in Connecticut at portal.ct.gov/ag.
- We process biometric data only after you opt in on the consent screen, only to verify you, and you can withdraw that consent in the app at any time.
- Texas residents: we don't sell sensitive personal data or biometric data.
Washington, Nevada and health data
Consumer health data. Radar isn't designed to collect health information, and we don't use location or other data to infer health conditions or to identify anyone's visits to health care providers. Washington law treats the selfie image and face template from selfie verification as consumer health data, so we describe how we handle them, and anything about your health you choose to write in your bio or messages, in our separate Consumer health data privacy policy. Washington residents can exercise rights under the My Health My Data Act, and Nevada residents rights under SB 370, by emailing us as described in Your privacy rights.
Nevada. We don't sell covered information as defined in Nevada law. You can still send a request to opt out of any future sale to support@onradarsocial.com.
Cookies on our website
Our website uses only cookies that are strictly necessary for it to work and be secure. We don't use analytics, advertising or social media cookies, or tracking pixels. The Radar app doesn't use cookies.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| radar-session | Keeps your session, remembers forms you submit, and keeps partners and staff signed in | 2 hours of inactivity |
| XSRF-TOKEN | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery | 2 hours of inactivity |
| remember_admin_*, remember_partner_* | Keeps staff and partners signed in if they choose "keep me signed in" | Until sign-out |
Because these cookies are required, there's no setting to turn them off on our site, but you can block or delete cookies in your browser. Some parts of the site, like sign-in, won't work without them. If we ever add optional cookies, we'll update this section and ask for your consent where the law requires.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We don't track you across other websites or apps, so there's nothing for a Do Not Track signal to switch off. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a valid request to opt out of sale and sharing for that browser. Because we don't sell or share personal information, nothing else changes.
United States only
Radar is offered only in the United States, and we store and process information in the United States. It isn't directed to people outside the US. If you use it from elsewhere, you understand your information will be processed in the US, where data protection laws may differ from yours.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We'll change the "Last updated" date above, and if a change is material we'll tell you in the app, by push notification, by text or by email before it takes effect. Where the law requires, we'll ask for your consent before using information in a materially different way.
